Detroit Substation

Location: Detroit, ME

Description: The Detroit Substation modifications included a yard expansion, installation of foundations for equipment and structures, the installation of a new 115kV line termination structure and the creation of a three-breaker ring bus. ESB performed grounding system upgrades as well as upgrades to the existing 115kV equipment. New P&C equipment was installed in the control house and modifications were made to the existing Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and telecommunication systems. The upgrade to the Detroit substation and surrounding grid will support the 185 Megawatt Bingham wind power project, located in Somerset and Piscataquis Counties, Maine.
